Balcony & homely touches

The decking goes down on the balcony, and finally we don't need to look at our downstairs neighbours any more!

And the new lights make for a cosy dining area - well, apart from the stuff on the table (and chairs), and the lack of floor...

Also, if what we found in the freezer* is anything to go by, I'm not sure we want to be dining at this establishment...

(*I believe it's various parts of a monkfish)

Decorating

Decorating starts in the master bedroom

although I think we're going to need a bit more wallpaper than that...

...which luckily we have!

And George also builds in the wardrobe.

He's in the cupboard!

George plays hide and seek with the tap fitter...

but when they've finished, we have a working tap, complete with red light!

Colour choices

George continues painting in the hallway (using all the appropriate face masks and eye protection, of course)

while our attention turns to choosing the colour for the glass splashback in the kitchen.  Caroline goes off in search of suitable shades of red, seeking inspiration from the local automotive population...

But should we go for Dulux, VW, or possibly Audi?

In any case, it looks as if the real inspiration for the shade of red lies elsewhere...

Working kitchen(!)

The kitchen is once again useable...

...er, sort of.  Well at least we have somewhere to put a cup of tea.

While the rest of the living room is its usual self...

...but outside everything is calm!

Worktop fitting

The guys come to fit the worktop

and luckily managed to get the big bit up the stairs

Soon it's all in, and George inspects...

...kitchen continues

The new ceiling is plastered

and Caroline and Nick admire progress in a natural and unposed way...

...and in particular some of the sharp detailing where the various complex spaced surfaces meet (stop me if I'm getting too technical)

Then the breakfast bar takes shape
